Late Period, 664 – 332 BC

 

Amulet in the shape of a Nile perch made of gray stone. Fish depicted in motion, curving slightly to the right. Details such as fins, scales, eye and mouth lifelike designed. Cf.: Carol Andrews, Amulets of Ancient Egypt, British Museum, London 1994, p. 93 fig. 93.

 

Dimension: length 8,1 cm, height 2,5 cm, width 1,1 cm

Condition: Except for tiny chips on the tail fin caused by antique use, intact and very nicely preserved.

Provenance: German private collection, acquired before 1966.
