Attic black-figure Band Cup

ca. 550 – 540 BC

Bowl with a deep basin on a short foot. In the centre of the clay-coloured band two antithetic cocks and lotus buds, lined by two running youths. Handle palmettes on the sides.

Dimension: height: 11,6 cm, diameter: 21,3 cm, width: 28,7 cm,

Condition: Very carefully assembled from several large pieces, no missing parts. The curving of one handle restored.

Provenance: German private collection, acquired in the German Art Trade in the late 1970s – 1980s.
