Etruscan Plate


675 – 650 BC


Shallow plate of the "ad aironi" type with narrow rim and stepped base. On the outside six large herons between circumferential lines. Inside decorated with wide concentric bands. In the rim two antique pierced holes for hanging by means of a cord.


Dimension: diameter: 28,8 cm, height: 4,3 cm

Condition: Assembled from three large pieces, but complete and well preserved.

Provenance: Swiss private collection of Prof. Dr. S. W., Bern. From the collection estate of the father Prof. Dr. J.-G. W., Freiburg, Germany, acquired between 1980 and 2005.
