Hellenistic linear-cut Bowl

2nd century BC


Hemispherical bowl made of thick-walled honey-colored glass formed over a convex core. On the inside below the rim two deep circumferential cut grooves. On the outside in the bottom area two concentric bundles of fine cut grooves. Splendid example of a type of vessel that belonged to the upper class lifestyle in Hellenism of the 2nd and 1st century BC.


Dimension: height: 7 cm, diameter: 12,6 cm

Condition: Intact and of quite excellent condition with shiny "fire-polished" exterior.

Provenance: German private collection, Wehr, acquired 1980 in the Germnan Art Trade.
