Iranian Pin Head

Luristan, 9th – 8th century BC


Bronze with maroon and green patina. In a square frame formed by braid patterns stands in the center the mistress of animals, holding with her raised hands the front paws of two felines standing erect to either side of her.


Dimension: height: 8.3 cm, width: 6,7 cm, depth: 1 cm

Condition: The originally inserted iron pin is missing, otherwise intact and very nicely preserved.

Provenance: German private collection B. W., Cologne. Acquired by the grandfather in the 1960s in the Art Trade in Cologne.
