Iranian Ceremonial Axe
Elam and Luristan, ca. 1700 BC
Bronze with shiny black-green patina. Axe cast in one piece with a cylindrical spout where the strongly curved blade attaches. The type is named after the Elamian prince Attahusu, whose name appears on some inscribed specimens.
Dimension: length: 10,4 cm, height: 7,8 cm, depth: 3 cm
Condition: Excellently preserved with very nice surface and patina.
Provenance: Bonhams London, ex United Kingdom private collection, acquired in the late 1970s to early 1980s.
