Head of a Kiliya Idol

Western Anatolia, Early Bronze Age II, 2700 – 2400 BC.
White, fine crystalline marble. The flat head with convex facial surface, indicated ears and narrow nose belongs to a female idol of artfully stylized depiction, the type of which is called a Kiliya Idol after the place where the first published specimen was found. The tilted position of the head also led to the name “Stargazer Idol”.

Dimension: height: 2,6 cm, width: 3,9 cm, depth: 3,3 cm
Condition: Broken at the neck, otherwise intact.
