three Heads of Kiliya Idols
Western Anatolia, Early Bronze Age II, 2700 – 2400 BC.
White, fine crystalline marble. The flat heads with convex facial surface, indicated ears and narrow nose belong to female idols of artfully stylized depiction, the type of which is called Kiliya Idols after the place where the first published specimen was found. The tilted position of the head also led to the name “Stargazer Idol”.

Dimension: height: 2,1 / 2,2 / 1,8 cm, width: 1,9 / 1,3 / 1,4 cm
Condition: Broken at the neck, otherwise intact.
Provenance: German private collection, before 1990.
