Mycenaean Askos

LH III C, 12th century BC.

 

Sand-colored clay with alternating brown painting. The wineskin-shaped vessel was first potted on the wheel as a small bowl, the edges of which were then folded up and pressed together. One end was left open as a spout. A grid-like pattern of three longitudinal stripes and vertical lines on both sides.

Condition: Intact and in very fresh condition.
