Roman Trefoil Jug
ca. 3rd century A.D.
Light greenish glass with a wine red vein. Wide, bulbous body on a conical foot. Trefoil folded mouth with rim folded inward. Strong, two-ribbed handle that attaches to the rim with a loop. Imposing wine jug of stately size.
Dimension: height: 21 cm, diameter: 12,7 cm, width: 13 cm
Condition: at the back rim of the mouth next to the handle attachment a short stress crack. In the center of the front several broken pieces very carefully and almost invisibly reinserted. Otherwise very nicely preserved.
Provenance: Ex collection S. M., Israel, 1948 - 2000, exported with export license from the Israel Antiquities Authority.
